Kathryn took the day off so we could take a hike and we brought Cutter. We headed to Rock Cut State Park which is the largest state park in Northern Illinois. It is about an hour drive just outside Rockford.
As advertised, the park is huge and has tons of park benches, camp sites, picnic areas, bon fire pits and shelters.
The first hike was a loop all the way around the lake in the center of the park. Lightly trafficked, a nice 4 1/2 mile hike. The hiking was good but, most of the trees have lost their leaves so not the greatest pictures.
After the lake hike we had our picnic lunch by the lake.
The second hike was a short hike in the same part of the park as the first hike. No pictures from that one.
Our final hike was in another section of the park a loop trail in the woods. No one else on the trail. A nice Hike.
